In a bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
Add warm water (and oil if using) and mix.
Knead for 10ā12 minutes until smooth.
Cover and let rise for 1ā1½ hours until doubled.
Shape into long baguette shapes.
Place on a baking tray, make small cuts on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (425°F) for 20ā25 minutes until golden.
š„ Tip: Put a small bowl of water in the oven for a crispy crust.
